Open-source Rust firmware for ESP32-S3 Bitcoin miners

Installation & User Manual

dvb-WarpAxe is an open-source replacement firmware, written in Rust, for small ESP32-S3 Bitcoin miners. It is early-stage software — use it with care. This free, illustrated guide walks you through installing it from Chrome or Edge over USB (with a full backup of your stock firmware first), the first start, every tab of the web UI, the device display, updates and the way back to the stock firmware — step by step, with screenshots.

◆Install from the browser

The browser installer at warppool.org/warpaxe writes WarpAxe over USB from Chrome or Edge — and first saves a full backup of your miner, stock firmware and settings included.

◆Signed updates with rollback

The miner finds new releases itself and installs one only on your click — after checking its checksum and signature. An update that does not start rolls back to the previous version.

◆Supported boards

Runs on the Bitaxe Gamma, NerdQAxe++, NerdOctaxe-γ, NerdAxe Gaia, BitForge Nano and NerdNOS; more boards have a profile, some of them already run at other users'.

◆Keeps your settings

Wi-Fi, pools, clock, voltage, fans and display are taken over from AxeOS or NerdOS. WarpAxe speaks the AxeOS API, so WarpTune and fleet tools keep working.

Get running fast

  1. Open warppool.org/warpaxe in Chrome or Edge on a computer and connect the miner with a USB data cable.
  2. Leave the full backup ticked and start the install — keep the backup file safe: it is your way back to the stock firmware.
  3. After the restart, open the miner's web UI at http://<hostname>.local — the name your old firmware used, for example bitaxe.local — or at its IP address. If it has no Wi-Fi yet, join the WarpAxe-XXXX hotspot with the password shown on its display.

WarpAxe is at an early stage: on a board marked “profile only”, install it only if you can put the stock firmware back over USB yourself. The full PDF explains every step — grab it above.
